Podcast 1
I really could relate to this podcast because Joseph Laycock teaches "at risk" high school students in Atlanta and I am studying to become a teacher as well. Although he is a teacher, he is very passionate about his martial arts training. His students took much interest in the martial arts that he studies, so he found a way to incorporate his martial arts experiences with the subject of history that he teaches. I find that to be amazing that he can incorporate his two loves into one and used it as a way to help his "at risk" students who people probably did not have a lot of expectations for. I also really liked when he said that students need a teacher who will fight for them. I completely agree with this statement and when I become a teacher I hope to be able to fight for my students the way he does.

Podcast 2
Michael Oatman believes that education can change a person's life and I admire that philosophy and agree with it completely. While listening to this podcast, I found his story to be truly inspiring. When he was working as a strip pole dancer, he never truly believed that he could amount into anything. Because of this he lacked a will to fight for what is rightfully his: an education. Once he wrote a poem that truly changed his life, he was officially inspired to change his life for the better and become the person he was truly destined to be. Oatman's story proves that education can truly change a person's life and one day he may become a teacher and will be able to inspire his amazing success story to his students.

Podcast 3
This story truly proved how anyone can overcome any obstacles if they put their mind to it. The Nona was completely illiterate, however she pursued her dream to come to America anyway. America was very different from her homeland but that did not deter her from her true aspirations. She learned 5 different languages and had to adjust to a new way of life to find a better life of her own. Now that she is working in a fabric shop for 40 years, it demonstrates how perseverance can really go a strong way.
